War on Gaza: Egypt, Russia Foreign Ministers Discuss Situation in Gaza

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has discussed the current situation in Gaza with Egyptian Foreign Minister, local media reported on Thursday.

They emphasizing the need for an urgent truce and humanitarian access to the Gaza strip. Both top diplomats condemned violent actions against civilian population in the Gaza Strip. They also denounced attacks on residential areas and infrastructure in Gaza.

According to media reports, Sergei Lavrov also emphasized the urgent evacuation of Russian nationals from the Palestinian enclave with the help of Egypt.

Meanwhile, the health ministry in Gaza said that more than 9,061 people were killed and over 32,000 injured in barbaric Israeli attacks on the Gaza. The Health Ministry’s spokesperson said that more than 3,760 children and 2,326 women were also killed in the current war in Gaza.

Amnesty International’s Donatella Rovera has also said that probes into four incidents on October 10, 11, 16 and 17 in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon have shown that Israeli military used white phosphorus as a weapon against people in civilian areas.

“The incidents that took place increase concern as white phosphorus has been used by Israeli army in the past with devastating consequences for the civilians,” Rovera stated.

She said that this was something that must never be used in region where there are civilian population.  She further said that they have seen that the white phosphors have been used in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and it should not happen again.
