Wani Honoured with Calls for Continued Struggle

MUZAFFARABAD: The Shuhada Foundation of Jammu and Kashmir solemnly observed the 8th martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his fellows with a dignified ceremony in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, local media reported.

According to local media, led by Saifullah Khalid, the event witnessed a significant gathering where attendees paid rich tributes to the martyrs, highlighting their significant role in Kashmir’s freedom struggle.

Speakers at the ceremony appreciated Burhan Wani for his unwavering resolve to the Kashmiris’ noble cause and also emphasized the profound impact of his martyrdom in galvanizing Kashmiri youth against Indian subjugation. The speakers strongly criticized India’s stubbornness and its militaristic policies, asserting that these have reinforced the necessity of armed resistance over diplomatic talks in resolving the decades-long Kashmir dispute.

According to western media around 887 Kashmiris have been martyred by Indian force since August 5, 2010.

It further reported that more than 24,688 civilians have been arrested by Indian forces during the same period.
