RAWALPINDI: West Indies cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards, currently serving as a mentor for Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, has described Pakistan as his “second home”.
Reflecting on his decade-long involvement with the franchise, Richards expressed his deep appreciation for the country and its people, particularly those associated with the PSL.
“This could easily be my second home—I truly enjoy being here. I absolutely love it. The people involved in the PSL are simply wonderful. It’s a fantastic place to be,” Richards said.
Speaking about Quetta Gladiators’ performance in the tournament so far, the legendary former cricketer shared his optimism about the team’s prospects in upcoming fixtures.
Gladiators finding rhythm
“Things have been going well overall. Apart from the loss against Islamabad, we seem to be finding our rhythm. As you saw this evening, Karachi got off to a strong start, but we managed to bounce back nicely. If we play to our potential, we should be in with a good chance of winning,” he noted.
It’s worth mentioning that the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League began on 11 April, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in the curtain-raiser at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including both Eliminators and the grand final.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is set to stage 11 matches, including the first Qualifier on 13 May.
Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five fixtures.
Quetta Gladiators started their campaign on a positive note with a victory over Peshawar Zalmi in their opening match.
However, they went on to suffer back-to-back defeats at the hands of Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings.
