BEIRUT: Two people are dead after sporadic clashes between Hezbollah and Christian residents in a mountain village near Beirut.
The violence erupted when a militia truck overturned on a road connecting Beirut with Damascus.
The villagers clashed with the Lebenese army which guarded the truck that had no markings and was reportedly carrying ammunition.
The video from the trouble spot shows people in plain clothes shooting at the buildings. Later a crane was called to lift the truck from the crash site. Hezbollah later confirmed truck belonged to them.
Hezbollah also stated after the incident, the local militia-men in the area instead of helping were trying to take the contents from the truck that resulted in the death of one of the members and the situation got worse.
The statement from Hezbollah also stated that it were locals who threw stones at the truck followed by firing, resulting in injury to one of the members who was taken to hospital where he died. Others guarded the truck that was attacked by the local militia and Lebanese army intervened and protected the truck and stopped local militia in controlling the truck.
The villagers on the other hand, accused Hezbollah for causing the killing of the villager Fadi Youssef Bejjani who was trying to save the injured Hezbollah member.
