LONDON: An interfaith coalition of religious, political leaders in UK and relatives of the victims of Israel-Hamas conflict have organized a vigil in London on Sunday.
Hundreds gathered opposite Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Downing Street office to voice their concern against rising hate in the world. They grouped for humanity and to highlight anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim hate.
Brendan Cox, the widower of murdered British parliamentarian Jo Cox, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, leading British rabbi, imam and peace activists attended the event.
Islamophobia on the rise in UK
Welby addressing the gathering said it was time to get away with anti-Semitism and Islamophobia which have been on the rise in the UK after the start of war between Israel and Hamas.
He said: We will not let anti-Semitism, Islamophobia have a role in our streets, our schools, our towns.
Imam Monawar Hussain in his remarks said we are united against all those who try to spread hatred and division.

Palestinian peace activist Hamze Awawde, who lives in Ramallah in the Palestinian Territories also attended the vigil.
In recent days London and other UK cities have seen large-scale protests in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
According to the health ministry in Gaza more than 15,523 innocent Palestinians have been brutally killed in the ongoing relentless Israeli military bombardments in the Gaza Strip since the commencement of violence on October 7.
