CARACAS, Venezuela: Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has asked the world community to heap more pressure on the government of President Nicolas Maduro to allow her coalition’s chosen candidate, Corina Yoris, to take part in July polls.

The 56-year-old politician on Friday thanked countries like Brazil and Colombia — traditional allies of Caracas — which joined France and the United States in expressing their alarm over the exclusion of candidate Yoris.

“They reaffirm that our struggle is fair and democratic,” Machado took to X to put her demand.

She called on the democratic leaders from across the globe to join the efforts of presidents and governments in demanding that the Maduro regime allow Corina Yoris’ registration as a candidate in the July presidential elections.
