Uzbekistan’s President Set to Attend UN SPECA Summit in Azerbaijan

TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is scheduled to embark on a working visit to Azerbaijan from November 23 to 24, where he will participate in the inaugural summit of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), as reported by Trend.

The UN SPECA program, established on March 26, 1998, aims to foster sub-regional cooperation among its member states to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The current member states of SPECA include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Baku is playing host to the SPECA summit from November 20 to 24, 2023, providing a crucial platform for leaders of the Central Asian region to collaborate on shared developmental objectives. The summit will serve as an opportunity for the participating nations to discuss strategies and initiatives that can contribute to the realization of the SDGs through regional cooperation.
