TASHKENT: Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have agreed to enhance cooperation in diverse fields including the economy, local media reported on Saturday.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has held a meeting with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Dushanbe and discussed bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
Uzbekistan, Tajikistan Vow to Boost Economic Cooperation
During the meeting, they focused on the current and future prospects of the partnership between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, seeking means to further enhance their strategic ties.
Both sides also expressed complete satisfaction with the positive trend in the growth of trade between the two central Asian nations and also emphasized the need to diversify further mutual trade and expand the range of goods. The two leaders also highlighted significant opportunities in different sectors, including energy, industry, agriculture, transport, and tourism, among others, which are of mutual interest.
They also exchanged views to promote cooperation in the food industries, automotive industry, and the agro-industrial complex.
