TASHKENT: During the ongoing fifth consultation of the presidents of Central Asian governments in Dushanbe, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recommended to establish an interstate programme to safeguard the Central Asian nations’ borders.
Mirziyoyev asserted that it is crucial to carry out joint drills in order to test situations and counter both established and emerging security threats.
He said “We believe it is essential to establish a regional early warning preventive system and coordinated response to emergencies”.
Uzbek president expresses concerns over situation in Afghanistan
The president said that one of the main aspects immediately affecting security and stability continues to be the state of affairs in Afghanistan.
“The integration of Afghanistan into the regional economy and ongoing, open communication with the country’s existing authorities are of the utmost importance, and Uzbekistan will continue to provide the assistance to the Afghan people,” Mirziyoyev stated.
