‘Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party’ Leads in Parliamentary Polls

TASHKENT: The Election Commission of Uzbekistan on Monday announced that the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party has come in a leading position in the parliamentary polls.

Chairman of the Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Zayniddin Nizamkhodjayev while announcing the position of the political parties in parliamentary polls 2024 held on October 27, 2024, said that Uzbekistan’s Liberal Democratic Party has won 64 seats out of 150 in Uzbekistan’s parliament.

Nizamkhodjayev made the announcement at a press conference along with Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Kuchkarov Bakhrom Tulkinovich in Tashkent Media Centre.

He said that the National Revival Democratic Party got 29 seats, Adolat (Justice) Social Democratic Party won 21 seats, the People’s Democratic Party 20 seats, and the Environmental Party 16 seats.

The Chief Election Commissioner added that 854 international observers monitored the parliamentary polls in Uzbekistan held on October 27, besides the local and foreign media gave full coverage to the democratic process.

He added that the domestic and international observers have declared the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan as free and fair. He said the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other international organizations observers will also inform the media in this regard.

Citizens of Uzbekistan including women, youth and people from all walks of life are enthusiastically active during these elections.

It is pertinent to mention that Uzbekistan’s voter turnout in elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Supreme Assembly and local councils reached 62.7%, with 12.5 million citizens out of 19.9 million registered voters casting ballots.

The Central Election Commission’s Chairman, Bahrom Kuchkarov, shared these figures, highlighting the highest participation rates in Fergana (69.22%), Namangan (68.08%), and Jizzak (66.83%).

The elections, held under the theme “My choice is a prosperous Motherland,” reflect Uzbekistan’s growing socio-political engagement.
