TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan has suggested favourable transit tariffs along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the issue during the summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Central Asian countries held in Jeddah. He underlined the importance of establishing trade and transport connectivity with the countries of the Arabian Gulf.
“In the field of transport and transit, I would like to propose applying the most favorable tariffs in the Middle Corridor, extensively use the existing multimodal corridors, and increase direct flights through targeted subsidies,” President Mirziyoyev added.
The president also urged Gulf countries to actively engage in the strategic project of Trans-Afghan Railway, which will connect the two regions, saying this route has got the potential to halve transport costs and cargo delivery times.
