TASHKENT: Representatives from Uzbekistan and Russia held fruitful discussions regarding collaboration in the agro-industrial sector during an online dialogue titled “Uzbekistan and Russia – Partners and Agreements,” organized by Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in St. Petersburg in conjunction with the Russian consulting firm Imexis LLC.
The virtual meeting saw participation from key stakeholders in the agricultural domains of both nations, including notable entities such as Food Agro, Angor Fresh, Samarkand Evro Asia Textile, Aral See Aquaculture, BMB NRC Agrologistics Uzbekistan, and Rustark, among others. Additionally, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of St. Petersburg, the Association of Customs Brokers of Uzbekistan, and the Hermes professional guild contributed to the dialogue.
Economic Relations Between Uzbekistan and Russia
Participants were afforded the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the potential and production capabilities of various companies, with a focus on facilitating the supply of Uzbekistan-grown products to the Russian market. The Consulate General expressed keen interest in fostering friendly and mutually beneficial economic relations, aimed at bolstering trade and economic ties between the two nations. They also extended comprehensive support to business representatives from both sides.
Throughout the dialogue, detailed discussions ensued, addressing various queries and concerns raised by the participants. Agreements were reached to collaborate in establishing partnership relations and addressing potential challenges.
The initiative comes against the backdrop of a growing economic relationship between Uzbekistan and Russia, reflected in the foreign trade turnover which amounted to $766.7 million in January 2024.
