TASHKENT: The “UzAviation” Agency of Uzbekistan has approved permissions for several foreign airlines to conduct regular flights to the country, in line with intergovernmental agreements on air communication.

IndiGo, a prominent Indian airline, has been granted permission to operate flights on the Delhi-Tashkent-Delhi route, utilizing A320neo and A321neo aircraft. Similarly, LOT Polish Airlines from Poland has received the green light for flights on the Warsaw-Tashkent-Warsaw route, deploying Boeing 737-8MAX airplanes.

In addition to these approvals, Malinda Airways of Malaysia has been authorized to conduct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent using A330 aircraft.

These permissions mark a significant step toward expanding air traffic and enhancing international connections for Uzbekistan. The move is expected to facilitate increased travel options for passengers and foster closer ties between Uzbekistan and the respective countries of the airlines.

Uzbekistan Aims to Strengthen Aviation Sector

The development aligns with Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen its aviation sector and bolster its role as a regional hub for air travel. The expansion of air connectivity can contribute to economic growth, tourism, and cultural exchanges, benefiting both Uzbekistan and its international partners.

The granting of permissions to these foreign airlines comes amid a notable growth in passenger transportation at Uzbek airports. In 2022, the number of passengers handled at Uzbek airports reached 7.9 million, representing a significant 46 percent increase compared to the previous year. This upward trend underscores the growing demand for air travel in and out of Uzbekistan.

The “UzAviation” Agency’s decision to permit these foreign airlines to operate in Uzbekistan is expected to play a pivotal role in further enhancing the country’s air transport sector and contributing to its broader socio-economic goals.
