Uzbekistan Airways Launches Tashkent-Islamabad Flight

ISLAMABAD: The inaugural Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tashkent to Islamabad was warmly received upon its arrival at Islamabad International Airport on Saturday.

The development marks a significant milestone in enhancing regional air connectivity and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Central Asia.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, on the occasion, said that the launch of Uzbekistan Airways’ direct flight will greatly strengthen the economic and trade ties between the two countries and reduce the distance between the people of the two countries.

He also added that this direct air link marks a strategic advancement in bilateral relations and aligns with the broader goals of the Central and South Asia Connectivity Initiatives.

Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation PTDC, Aftab Rana said this weekly flight between the two capitals marks a significant step forward in strengthening air connectivity between the two brotherly nations.

Guests warmly welcomed passengers on the occasion while a formal cake-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the launch.

Operating every Saturday, the new route highlights the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and Pakistan to enhancing their longstanding partnership and expanding cooperation across various sectors.

In addition to the new Islamabad route, Uzbekistan Airways currently operates biweekly flights to Lahore on Wednesdays and Fridays.
