TASHKENT: Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended his deep condolences to the Kazakh leader over the Karaganda mine incident, local media reported on Saturday.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a phone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart that his country stands ready to render required support in rectification of the tragedy consequences. He hoped that miners remaining in the mine will be rescued. The two sides also discussed bilateral and regional matters during the talks.

The powerful explosion rocked the Kostenko mine in Karaganda region on October 28. At the moment of the explosion, about 252 miners were in the mine. At least 33 miners were reportedly killed in the explosion. Reports said that 20 injured were shifted to hospital.
As per media reports, the Prosecutor General’s Office has initiated a criminal probe into the incident. The rescuers are still working to rescue the trapped miners
