- Hosts seal unassailable 2-0 series lead
LAHORE: Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq responded to criticism of his bowling action by trolling Australia’s Cameron Green after the latter’s dismissal in the second T20I at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Tariq posted a meme video on Instagram showing a boy crying with the caption “after getting out”, in what appeared to be a playful reaction to Green’s visible frustration. The incident occurred late in Australia’s innings when Tariq bowled a fuller delivery outside off stump, tempting Green into a slash that resulted in a simple catch for Shadab Khan at point.
Green, who top-scored for Australia with 35 off 20 balls, made a ‘throwing’ gesture as he walked back to the dugout, seemingly accusing Tariq of chucking. Tariq has faced similar allegations before, including during his stint with Desert Vipers in the ILT20.
Pakistan’s spinners
The spinner has previously explained that the structure of his elbow limits full extension and said he has undergone official tests in Pakistan, where his action was cleared. He was reported twice in his career but was passed both times, including by an ICC-accredited biomechanics lab last year.
Pakistan’s spinners dominated the match as the hosts secured a comprehensive 90-run victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Pakistan posted 198/5, led by captain Salman Ali Agha’s 76 and Usman Khan’s 52. Australia were bowled out for 108, with Abrar Ahmed and Shadab claiming three wickets each.
