ISLAMABAD: Multan Sultans’ batter Usman Khan expressed his ambition to score a double century in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, which is set to begin today.

The wicketkeeper-batter, who currently holds the record for the fastest century in the league’s history, has now set his sights on becoming the first player to achieve a double hundred in the PSL.

“I’m aiming to score a double century in this year’s PSL and hope to put in strong performances for the team,” Usman told the media.

Reflecting on the Sultans’ recent near-misses, having reached the final in each of the last three editions without securing the title, Usman said the squad is determined to turn things around this time.

“We’ve prepared thoroughly for PSL 10. The plan is to play simple cricket and deliver solid performances. We’ve lost the final three seasons in a row, but our goal this year is to win the trophy,” he added.

Playing pressure-free

He also shared details of his discussions with captain Mohammad Rizwan, revealing that Rizwan advised the team to play “pressure-free” and “normal” cricket throughout the tournament.

The 29-year-old described the local and emerging talent as the true strength of Multan Sultans, stressing the importance of settling on a winning team combination early in the competition.

“Identifying the right line-up early on and sticking to it will be key to our success,” he noted.

Usman’s passion

Usman Khan also spoke about his decision to switch allegiance from UAE cricket to Pakistan, calling it a move driven by passion.

“Many said I made a mistake, but I sacrificed for a dream. By Allah’s grace, I got the opportunity to represent Pakistan,” he said.

Finally, the top-order batter acknowledged the challenge of adapting to the fast-evolving modern game, adding that he intends to play with intent during both the powerplay and middle overs.
