LAHORE: An accountability court (AC) on Monday extended the interim bail of Usman Buzdar, former Punjab CM in assets beyond means case.
According to the details, the court has ordered the former chief minister of Punjab to take part in the investigations by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The accountability court slammed the NAB prosecutor for not providing an inquiry copy to Usman Buzdar and noted that the accused must know what he is accused for. The NAB prosecutor told the court that a written reply was sent to the former CM Punjab but he did not participated in the investigation process.
Usman Buzdar was ordered by the court to participate in the probe today, but the PTI leader pleaded with the judge to extend his bail for an additional 10 days because he needed to travel to Dera Ghazi Khan for a wedding.
“Usman Buzdar didn’t cooperate with NAB”
Don’t offer an explanation, the judge noted. Buzdar responded by saying that going to a wedding is not an excuse. The court said Usman Buzdar if he did not cooperate with NAB in investigation then the court would not provide him relief. However, the court extended interim bail to Usman Buzdar till 7th of March.
Earlier, NAB summoned Usman Buzdar again for an inquiry about “assets beyond known sources of income”. The PTI leader must appear in person before the anti-graft organization’s Lahore office on February 22 at 11 a.m.
It is important to note that the NAB Executive Board approved the NAB Lahore decision to begin a probe into Buzdar’s possession of assets that were beyond his means.
