KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with United States Consul General Conrad Tribble and USAID Pakistan Mission Director Kate Somvongsiri to discuss broadening the USAID program’s scope, especially in education sector.
The meeting, held at CM House, included Chairman P&D Najam Shah and CM Secretary Raheem Shaikh.
CM Shah thanked USAID for its work in Sindh’s education sector and urged them to assist in constructing schools affected by floods.
USAID Pakistan Chief Kate Somvongsiri assured collaboration with the Sindh government to plan the reconstruction of these schools. CM Shah instructed Chairman Najam Shah to finalize the plan in a meeting with the USAID team.
The Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), under USAID, recently built 104 schools in 11 districts. Of these, 103 are operational, with 63,969 students enrolled, including 18,911 girls.

SBEP aims to boost and maintain student enrollment by fostering conducive learning environments.
Somvongsiri mentioned USAID’s interest in the mother-child nutrition program. CM Shah expressed gratitude and directed Secretary Raheem Shaikh to coordinate between USAID and the Social Protection department for program formalization.
Consul General Tribble congratulated CM Shah on his third term as Sindh Chief Minister.
