USAID Project to Put in Place Resilient Healthcare System

ISLAMABAD: United States Agency for International Development’s Mission Director for Reed Aeschliman and Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sindh Minister for Health and Population, launched a program focused on family planning along with maternal, child, and newborn health.

According to a statement, this program, which is known as Building Health Families Activity (BHFA), will work in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. For the project, the American government is providing $40 million in funds.

Reed Aeschliman said that the United States has since partnered with Sindh’s government. Adding, he said that USAID is keenly working to boost its linkages that will further harden the partnership’s foundations. These actions will allow for fulfilling the common goal of saving lives.

Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho appreciated the continued support from the American government via USAID and highlighted the Sindh government’s undying commitment to better health care for its people.

Equitable healthcare focus of project

The statement highlighted that the BHFA project focuses on equitable healthcare and its subsequent actions would aid women, youth and girls along with those segments of the population which are normally not taken care of by quality healthy due to accessibility issues.

The project also plans to engage boys and men in a meaningful manner, enhance human resource capacity for health, introduce healthcare solutions based on digital means, as well as ensure security for both commodity and supply chains. All these actions should lead to a much more resilient healthcare system.
