ISLAMABAD: As part of its efforts for private sector-led economic growth, USAID-ERDA has extended support to the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Livestock Farmers Welfare Association KP for holding the International Livestock, Agri, Fisheries Exhibition 2023.
The exhibition provided an opportunity and platform for MSMEs from across the province to showcase their products, meet potential customers face-to-face, and boost their capacities in different aspects of their businesses, including product presentation, marketing, and packaging.
Despite multiple challenges, micro, small, and medium enterprises have emerged as a vital force in the region’s economic recovery and rehabilitation.
Recognizing the increasing need for private sector-led economic development in the region, USAID’s Economic Recovery and Development Activity (USAID-ERDA) is implementing many impactful interventions to strengthen and promote micro, small, and medium enterprises and mobilize private sector investments in the province.
Ghulam Akbar from Wana, South Waziristan, exhibiting Olive Oil and other exotic products from his area, stressed the pivotal role of MSMEs during crises and challenges.
He said that MSMEs had shown resilience and the potential to drive economic recovery in the province.
Shad Muhammad, Chief of the Party for USAID-ERDA, commented on the need for much-required support.
He said it was necessary to empower micro and small-scale enterprises to unlock their full potential and contribute to sustainable economic development in the province.
He added that through networking, technical and capacity-building support, and access to high-end markets, a thriving ecosystem for MSMEs could be created.
USAID-ERDA’s Other Session
At the margins of the exhibition, USAID-ERDA held a ‘Market Linkages and Networking Session’ that brought together more than one hundred participants, including forty national-level private sector companies- i.e., technology providers, extension services providers, inputs providers, public sector departments, farmers, and allied enterprises.
The session aimed to foster networking, market linkages, and partnerships between farmers and allied MSMEs with the national-level private sector firms to support boosting local economies and empowering MSMEs in KP.
Through these efforts, USAID-ERDA is committed to driving economic development, fostering partnerships, and unlocking the immense potential that exists in the province.
