US Winter Storm Covers Houses in Ice as People Struggle to Dig Out Following Blizzards

WASHINGTON: Houses covered in thick ice have been discovered in drone video of Lake Erie – as people in North America are struggling to dig out following deadly blizzards.

The frozen houses in Ontario took the effect of the storms as they directly face the Canadian side of the river. Large areas of North America have been fighting a huge bomb cyclone – the deadliest United States (US) storm for at least two generations.

As many as 65 people were killed as a result of the deadly blizzards in the region.  Floods alerts have been issued for later this week as ice, snow, and rain are also forecast.

Erie County Executive Mark Polocarz said that several of the dead were found frozen in vehicles, or died in medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest while shoveling snow in the area. Poloncarz said that it would take more than two days to reopen one lane in every city street.

He requested that people should avoid driving in the city of Buffalo. He added that many people have been ignoring a driving ban that is currently in place in the city.

He added that they are recovering from the worst storm in history. The authority has called in 100 military police personnel from the state National Guard to help manage traffic and implement road restrictions.
