BERLIN: During a joint news conference with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky at the annual Munich Security Conference, US Vice-President Kamala Harris reiterated the Biden administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Harris affirmed that the United States stands ready to assist Ukraine for “as long as it takes” and emphasized the administration’s determination to ensure that Russia pays damages to Ukraine following the conclusion of the war.

“We will continue in our efforts to secure a just and lasting peace. We will work to make sure Russia pays damages to Ukraine,” Harris stated.

US Support for Ukraine

The Vice-President’s remarks come amidst ongoing debates within the US political arena regarding how best to confront Russia, particularly in light of Washington’s significant financial and military assistance to Ukraine.

Despite facing hurdles in Congress, with a stalled request for an additional $60 billion in aid for Kyiv, Harris underscored President Biden’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and support for Ukraine’s defense. “President Biden and I will continue to work to secure the resources and weapons you need to succeed,” she affirmed.
