US Urges Pakistan to Continue Crackdown Against Terrorist Groups

ISLAMABAD: Matthew Miller, US State Department spokesperson, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts in countering terrorism while emphasizing the need to sustain ongoing actions towards permanently eradicating all terrorist organizations.

According to local media, the spokesperson’s statement came in response to a question asked during a press briefing about Pakistan’s strong reaction to the United States-India joint statement.

Highlighting the immense suffering of the Pakistani people due to terrorist attacks over the years, Miller acknowledged that Pakistan has taken necessary steps to counter terrorist groups in alignment with the completion of its Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plans.

Notably, Miller has praised both India and Pakistan for their commitment to upholding the ceasefire along the line of control.
He emphasized that the US encourages Pakistan to be consistent in its efforts to disband all terrorist groups permanently.
Replying to a question regarding human rights and religious freedom violations in India, the spokesperson said that they regularly raise concerns about human rights in their conversations with Indian officials. President Biden spoke about this issue in his joint press conference with Indian PM Modi, he said.
