LONDON: US Senator Lindsey Graham has lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) after concluding a visit to the Kingdom, in a U-turn on his last criticism of its Vision 2030.
US-KSA ties
Talking to ABC Graham said that he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his trip, and acknowledged that a lot had changed in the country since then.
He said that Saudi Arabia brought a lot of reforms in the country. He maintained that things in the Kingdom are changing very rapidly for the better.
“I see a chance to normalize the ties between Washington and Riyadh that would be transformative for the entire region.”
In the interview, the senator also expressed his gratitude to the KSA for its 36 billion dollars purchase of 787 Boeing jets made in South Carolina.
“I came to Saudi Arabia to say thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are thinking regarding buying more jets,” he told ABC.
The senator was full of praise for Saudi Arabia’s reform agenda and the role its leadership is playing in transforming the Kingdom.
“Vision 2030 of Saudi crown prince is real,” he added. “Women can also drive for the first time in Saudi history.”
Graham said what he saw during his trip this week was “game-changing”.
