Speaking with Shanghai Communist Party head Chen Jining on a visit to China, Raimondo said a “stable economic connection is good for Washington, good for Beijing, and good for the entire world.”
She told Chen that the Sino-US economic relationship is among the most important in the world. She said that they were looking forward to dialogue to “bring regarding a more predictable business atmosphere, predictable regulatory environment, and a level playing field for the US businesses in Shanghai”.
In a meeting with Chinese Vice Prime Minister, He Lifeng in Beijing, she raised some matters with China, a US Department of Commerce said in a statement.
The US commerce secretary is one of a number of top US officials to visit Beijing in recent few months — part of an effort by the US to improve its working relationship with Beijing. She has used the visit to seek more open talks with the Chinese officials over trade curbs, and the two countries have agreed to establish a working group to address the issues.
