According to Arab news, Saudi foreign minister received a call from US Secretary of State today. The two top diplomats discussed the current crisis in the African country and stressed the significance of de-escalating in Sudan. They said that there is need to end the violence in Sudan and de-escalate the tension between the troops loyal to two top generals in the country. Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Antony Blinken were of the view that civilians and foreign citizens in the country should be protected.

BBC reported that the fighting is taking place in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, despite a truce due to start at 18:00 16:00 GMT.

In particular, the fighting has not stopped around the country’s army headquarters by the airport in the centre of the city. Two rival Sudanese generals had agreed to a 24-hour humanitarian break to allow civilians to take medical assistance and supplies. Residents are also facing shortage of food and water.

As many as 200 people have been killed in the ongoing fighting between the country’s army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group.
