US Remains Largest Destination for Pakistani Exports

ISLAMABAD: In the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, the United States (US) maintained its position as the leading export destination for Pakistani products, followed by China and the United Kingdom (UK).

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said that Pakistani exports to the US from July to September 2023 amounted to $1,376.125 million, marking a 17.04 percent decrease compared to the $1,658.815 million in the same period last year.  

China ranked second, with Pakistan exporting goods worth $633.374 million, an increase of 26.42 percent from the $501.000 million exported last year.

The UK secured the third spot in the list of top export destinations. During the same period, Pakistan exported products worth $518.948 million, slightly lower than the $519.948 million in exports reported by the SBP.

Pakistani Exports to UAE

In addition to these top three destinations, Pakistan’s exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached $472.166 million, up 27.64 percent from last year’s $369.904 million. Exports to Germany amounted to $364.446 million, down from $456.895 million in the previous year.

Other export figures include exports to Holland at $331.860 million (down from $382.241 million), exports to Italy at $299.151 million (down from $308.317 million), exports to Spain at $366.935 million (up from $325.940 million), and exports to Afghanistan at $128.533 million (up from $127.157 million).

Exports to Bangladesh amounted to $144.506 million, a decrease from the $234.144 million recorded in the same period last year. Similarly, exports to France during this period were reported at $130.743 million, down from $153.504 million, and exports to Belgium stood at $136.588 million, a decline from $197.686 million in the previous year.

Saudi Arabia received exports worth $149.271 million during the current year, compared to $114.849 million last year, while exports to Turkey amounted to $90.272 million, a decrease from the $94.998 million recorded in the previous year.
