WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has said the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) issuance of an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin on allegations of a war crime for deporting Ukrainian kids was “justified”, AFP reported on Friday.

The act “makes a very strong point,” US President told media persons at the White House while noticing that the US is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Earlier, Kremlin said that the ICC’s verdict to issue an arrest warrant against the Russian President was legally “annulled” since Moscow does recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of ICC and so from a legal side, the verdicts of this court are invalid,”. Russian ministry for foreign affairs also said the verdicts of the ICC “have no meaning” for his country. Russia’s ex-president Dmitry Medvedev also likened the arrest warrant of Putin to toilet paper. The ICC announced earlier it had issued an arrest warrant for the Russian President for the “illegal deportation” of Ukrainian kids.
