US President Joe Biden Meets Zelenskiy

WASHINGTON:  US President Joe Biden met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, at the White House on Wednesday. The US President held a joint news conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, at the White House after the meeting.

The US President has announced a security assistance package including Patriot missile defense system for Ukraine. Biden said that it is important for the people of America, and the world to hear directly from President Zelenskiy regarding Ukraine’s war. Biden claimed that he had never seen EU and NATO more united than regarding Ukraine.

On the occasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that they were discussing sanctions and legal pressure on Russia. Zelenskiy said that a “just peace” with Moscow means no compromises to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Zelenskiy said that the US will stand up for their shared values of freedom. Zelenskiy will also address a joint session of the U.S. Congress and also hold meetings with some leaders of Republican.

Moscow said on Wednesday it saw no chance of talks with Ukraine and said that continued Western weapons supplies to Ukraine would lead to a “deepening” of the war.  It may be recalled that the United States (US) has sent about 50 billion US dollars in assistance to Ukraine.
