NEW YORK:  The Manhattan jury examining former US President Donald Trump’s alleged role in a hush money payment to a star is not expected to hear the case for the upcoming month because of a previously scheduled break.

According to Politico the hiatus would push any indictment of Trump to late April, though it is possible that the jury’s schedule can change.  In recent days, the district attorney’s office has not convened the panel on certain days.

However, it is District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s privilege to ask the jury to resume if prosecutors want the panel to meet during earlier planned hiatus. Media reports suggest that the jury is not meeting on Wednesday and is likely to examine evidence in another matter on Thursday. The jury, which naturally meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, is scheduled to review another case in the upcoming week and is not expected to meet on Thursday due to break.

However, a spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney’s office refused to comment on the matter. However, there is no official deadline for taking an indictment against the former US President, although there were signals in recent weeks that the jury’s activity was closing a vote when prosecutors offered Donald Trump the opportunity to testify before the panel. That is naturally one of the last steps of a criminal probe. However, former President Donald Trump refused the invitation.
