The 218-211 vote came following a heated, voices-raised debate in which Democrats accused the Republicans of targeting the Somali-born Muslim Rep based on her race.
However, Ilhan Omar defended herself, asking if anyone was astonished, she was being targeted because when you push power, power pushes back. Democratic Representatives hugged and embraced Ilhan Omar during the vote.

The resolution was proposed by Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, an ex-official in the Trump administration, who declared Omar’s remarks as a dishonor to the House of Representatives.
Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said that Thursday’s vote was not about accountability, it’s about political revenge.
Omar is one of the first two Muslim female elected to the US Congress. Omar is also the first to wear a hijab in the House of Representatives following floor rules were amended to allow members to wear head coverings for religious reasons.
