ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador Donald Blome said on Monday that the US-Pakistan Green Alliance Framework is an example of a strong and enduring partnership that will continue to improve the lives of Pakistanis and Americans while having a positive global impact.

According to a news release, he was speaking at the CASS Ambassador Lecture on ‘Pak-US Relations: The Way Forward,’ which was organized by the Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies.

Donald Blome, a seasoned diplomat who previously served in Tunisia, discussed the two countries’ 75-year bilateral relationship, particularly decades of development assistance that supported the construction of schools, hospitals, and highways throughout the country, as well as education through its scholarship programs.

Foundation for the Pakistan-US relationship

He recognized the importance of the Pakistani Diaspora in business and government, who had created a network of personal and professional connections that had laid a solid foundation for the Pakistan-US relationship.

He also emphasized the country’s long history of humanitarian work, from the 2005 earthquake and floods to the recent devastating super floods, to ensure Pakistanis in need received life-saving assistance.

The discussion, moderated by Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani, Advisor to CASS on Foreign Affairs, was followed by an open Question/Answer session between the Ambassador and the audience, which included serving and retired military officers, academics, and diplomats.

President CASS Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan (Retd) thanked the guest speaker and expressed hope that the strong foundations of the US-Pak relationship would further strengthen bilateral ties, particularly inclusive economic growth and regional peace and prosperity, in his Concluding Remarks and Vote of Thanks.
