CALIFORNIA: US music sensation Aaron Carter drowned in his bathtub by accident due to drugs he had ingested, according to a coroner’s report.
Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, was found dead on November 4, 2022 at his home in Lancaster, California. According to the autopsy, his death was caused by drowning due to the effects of sedatives he had consumed and gas he had inhaled.
Alprazolam, often known as Xanax, was discovered in his system. Difluoroethane, a compressed gas, was also found. It’s a “gas commonly used as a propellant in air spray cleaners” that “can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled.
Carter was last seen alive when police arrived at his house in the early hours of November 4, according to the Associated Press. They were checking on him after he was seen with an inhalant on an Instagram live stream, according to a police report included in the autopsy findings.
Carter had requested that the officers to leave. According to the police report, he missed an appointment with a drug therapist later that day. The next day, a woman identified as a housekeeper came to Carter’s house to give him coffee. When she didn’t get an answer, she let herself in and discovered him unconscious in a Jacuzzi-style tub with the jets still flowing.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Investigators discovered prescription bottles and cans of an electronic duster he had used for inhaling. Carter began his career as an opening act for the boy band Backstreet Boys on various tours and concerts. He sold millions of copies of his four albums during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the first of which he released when he was only nine.
Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), his second album, obtained triple platinum when it was released in 2000. Following the album’s release, he joined Britney Spears on her Oops!… I Did It Again tour.
Carter switched towards rap as he grew older and featured in Broadway musicals and on the US television show Dancing with The Stars. He struggled with various issues, including multiple stints in rehab and filing a bankruptcy petition in 2013 to deal with millions of dollars in debt, much of its tax-related.
He has had a number of run-ins with the law for narcotics possession and reckless driving.
Carter’s son Prince was born in 2021, and he checked into rehab last year in an attempt to gain custody of him, according to The Hollywood Reporter. After Carter’s death, many people paid tribute to him, including Paris Hilton, Tyler Hilton, and Hilary Duff, as well as the bands New Kids on the Block and *NSYNC.
