WASHINGTON, United States: The US military said on Saturday that it had struck and destroyed three oil tankers linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), following an attack by the Iranian forces on American warships.
“A US aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed,” US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X.
“Following Iran’s failed attacks, Centcom permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo (also known as the ‘Noxen’) in the Gulf of Oman, striking the vessel in multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship,” it said.

“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost — taking out three of yours,” Centcom chief Admiral Brad Cooper is quoted as saying.
“We will not hesitate to defend American forces, and if necessary, destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.”
Iranian media claims tanker near Kharg Island struck by US
Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim said that an Iranian tanker struck near the key oil export hub Kharg Island was targeted by the US.
Tasnim quoted local sources as saying there were no casualties and the tanker’s crew was being evacuated.
IRGC denies attack on nuclear facility in Isfahan
Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Imam Sahib al-Zaman Corps denied any attack on nuclear centres and facilities in Iran’s Isfahan province, according to state news agency IRNA.
“Following the circulation of false reports and claims on social media and online platforms alleging that the American-Zionist enemy had attacked nuclear centres and facilities in Isfahan Province, we inform the honourable and vigilant people of the province that this report is completely false,” the Corps said in a statement.
The IRGC added that spreading misinformation in sensitive circumstances “is an example of efforts by hostile elements to create tension, alarm public opinion, and disrupt the psychological calm of the people”.
Trump hits back at critics of Iran war
US President Donald Trump on Friday criticised the American left and Democrats in a post on social media, accusing them of preferring the United States to lose the war in Iran rather than see him “win the war for America”.
“These are very sick people who suffer from serious TDS, sometimes referred to as Trump Derangement Syndrome,” he said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Earlier on Thursday, President Trump said that the United States has “virtually unlimited” supplies of ammunition and is producing munitions at unprecedented levels, rejecting reports that the war with Iran is putting pressure on American military stockpiles.
Trump made the remarks in posts on his Truth Social platform, attacking media outlets and others who have reported that US ammunition supplies are being depleted by the conflict.

“We have virtually unlimited amounts of mid- to high-grade ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other war,” Trump said.
He added that the United States was producing “munitions at levels never seen before” and was stockpiling weapons for “any contingency that could happen”.
Trump said Washington was currently keeping the munitions for its own use rather than selling them to other countries. He said sales to US allies would resume soon.
“We are taking them for ourselves, the U.S.A., rather than selling them to others, but the sales to Allies will soon again begin,” the US President said.
