WASHINGTON: A US military airplane has gone down over the eastern Mediterranean Sea, military officials said Saturday.
In a statement, the US European Command confirmed the development and said that the aircraft crashed while performing training operations in the area. It added that the investigation has been initiated to known the reason of the crash. However, the statement said that there are no signs of any hostile action involved.

The officials said that out of respect for the families suffered, no other information and news would be released on crews involved.

AP reported that it was not yet clear what military service the airplane belonged to. The US Air Force has sent additional troops to the area and the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, which has an array of aircraft on board, has also been working in the eastern Mediterranean.
