CHICAGO: A 71-year-old man in Chicago has killed a 6-year-old boy and seriously injuring a 32-year-old woman in a hate crime against Muslims, Western media reported on Sunday.
Media quoted Will County Sheriff’s Office as saying that the man attacked the victims because of their religious faith and the on-going conflict between Hamas and Israel.
Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, named the victims as Wadea Al-Fayoume, a Palestinian-American boy and his mother Hanaan Shahin.

The Muslim civil liberties organization in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter said the Sheriff’s office has confirmed that the killer, Joseph Czuba, has been charged with a hate crime for the murder of the six-year-old Wadea and attack on his mother.
Police found both victims at a home in the area of Plainfield Township, about 65 kilometers southwest of Chicago.
According to the autopsy report the boy, was stabbed 26 times with a large military-style knife while the mother of the body is in critical condition after being stabbed for a dozen times.
Police charged Joseph Czuba with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of hate crimes.
The mother and her son used to live at the ground floor of the house for two years, while the suspected murderer was their landlord.
