WASHINGTON: The joint US-Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said Thursday that the United States warplanes had intercepted Russia’s military aircraft close to the state of Alaska for the 2nd time this week.

NORAD said in a statement that they intercept four Russia’s planes including Su-30, Tu-95 bomber and Su-35 fighter aircraft on Tuesday. It added that Russian planes did not enter into US and Canadian airspace and they remained in international airspace.
According to AFP, this was the second time in two days, with the 1st taking place on Monday.
According to NORAD, it assesses that Russian activity is in no way linked to recent US Northern Command and NORAD operations linked with objects on North America during the past several days.
Earlier, US shot down a suspected Chinese balloon and three unknown objects in the current month — infrequent offensive acts for planes stationed in North America.
