RIYADH: The US Embassy in Riyadh has welcomed US Air Force Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost, commander of the US Transportation Command, as she held meeting with female members of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, adding that it supports women’s empowerment as a Vision 2030 goal.

Van Ovost, who is on a tour of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), expressed happiness at sharing and exchanging ideas and experiences with women members of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces.
Van Ovost tweeted with pictures of her interaction, which was retweeted by the US Embassy, “Ending my day energized following speaking with Saudi Armed Forces members. We discussed about one of my favorite subjects—mentorship. No one can overcome challenges alone,”.
The US Embassy also tweeted that Lt. Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost focuses on women’s empowerment and STEM education. It added that the US government proudly supports the empowerment women as a Saudi Vision 2030 goal.

Lt. Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost visited Prince Sultan Military Air Base and the Apple Developer Academy in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.

In a tweet, the US Embassy in Riyadh said that Van Ovost visited the Apple Developers Academy during her tour to the headquarters of Princess Noura University.
Lt. Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost told Arab media that her first trip to Riyadh focused on consolidating strong ties with the Saudi Ministry of Defense to achieve security goals.
She added that the US Central Command is working with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to set up an integrated air defense system to counter unmanned aircraft and missiles, among other technological steps.
She described US military ties with the KSA as solid, adding that the two sides fought side by side during the Gulf War in the early 90s, and that their partnership is a foundation of security and stability in the Middle East.
