RIYADH: The US-Gulf Cooperation Council Defence Working Group has held its third meeting in KSA’s capital Riyadh, Arab media reported on Thursday. According to the Saudi Press Agency the meeting discussed regional threats and challenges.

The meeting reiterated the long-term partnership between the GCC countries and the US, and their commitment to obtaining regional security and stability via their strategic partnership.
Arab news reported that the participants of the meeting expressed concerns about Iran’s increased military engagement, citing its continued supply of weapons to the Houis in war-hit Yemen.
They said that Iran’s continued production of such arms posed a serious threat to the region and the world.
The meeting also asked Iran to immediately stop nuclear provocations, engage in serious diplomatic efforts, and cooperate with the IAEA.
On the occasion, the US reaffirmed that the US President’s promise not to permit Tehran to obtain nuclear arms.
On the occasion, the working group also expressed its commitment to enhance defense cooperation between the two sides to counter regional threats, while saying that diplomacy was the only method for dealing with Iran’s policies.
