RIYADH: US Special Ambassador for Yemen Tim Lenderking will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Oman to advance the current peace efforts to secure a new agreement and initiate a comprehensive peace process in the war-hit country.

During his Gulf visit, the envoy will meet with Saudi, Omani, Yemeni, and international partners to hold discussions over their coordinated efforts to further advance the ongoing peace talks.
“Washington is working closely with the United Nations, KSA, Oman, and other international partners to build on the UN-mediated ceasefire, which has delivered the longest calm since the war began, to support and help an inclusive, Yemeni-led political process that allows Yemenis to shape a brighter future for their nation,” in a statement the US State Department said.
A 60-day ceasefire was first agreed in Yemen in April 2022 and was renewed many times following that. It is “approximately holding” a year later, UN envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg said.
