ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly criticized Israel’s blockade of Gaza, adding cutting off water and electricity is against the Palestinian people’ human rights.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Austria’s Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Tuesday, President Erdogan criticized Washington’s plans to provide an aircraft carrier to the region, adding the deployment of aircraft could lead to “massacres.”

He questioned, what is the American aircraft carrier doing in Israel? It will take down Gaza strip by striking the neighboring areas and start carrying out serious massacres.
President Erdogan reiterated his offer to arbitrate between the two parties and said he would continue his efforts to end the conflict. He said that he would hold talks with UN chief Antonio Guterres over the matter soon.
Earlier, President Erdogan also raised the matter with Russian President Putin during a telephonic conversation. The Turkish presidency said President Tayyip Erdogan and President Putin had discussed “the shocking developments of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the steps to be taken to prevent an escalation”. President Erdogan said that it was “regrettable to target civilian infrastructure and that Ankara doesn’t welcome such actions”.

In a statement, the Kremlin said during a telephone conversation with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, “emphasis was placed on the abruptly worsening situation in the Palestinian- Israeli conflict zone”. It added “Deep concern was also expressed regarding the continuing escalation of violence and the terrible rise in the number of civilian casualties”.
The two leaders had reiterated the need for “an urgent ceasefire” and for “the restoration of the dialogue process”, the Kremlin said.
