US Defence Secretary Appreciates Pakistan for Counter Terrorism Cooperation

ISLAMABAD:  US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has offered special thanks to Pakistan for the capture of the “top terrorist” involved in the 2021 Kabul airport bombing. He made these remarks while talking at a program on Fox News.

He said, “Special thanks to Pakistan indeed, they cooperated with us.”  Pete Hegseth added Pakistan captured the “terrorist mastermind” for which we are grateful to Pakistan.

He said, “We will find them and we will keep our words, we cooperated with Pakistanis, and they nabbed them”.

He questioned, “What the Biden administration done.”

Donald Trump thanks Pakistan

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump, in an address to the US Congress, thanked the Pakistani government for apprehending the “top terrorist” involved in the 2021 Kabul airport bombing.

“Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity,” Trump said. “And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice.”

In a post on X, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stated: We thank US President Donald Trump for acknowledging and appreciating Pakistan’s role and support in counter terrorism efforts across the region, in the context of Pakistan Security Forces’ recent apprehension of ISKP’s top tier operational commander Shareefullah, who is an Afghanistan National. The wanted terrorist was apprehended in a successful operation conducted in Pakistan-Afghan border region.”

US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz has conveyed President Donald Trump’s appreciation for Pakistan’s role in counter-terrorism efforts and thanks for Pakistan’s role and support in counter-terrorism efforts, according to media reports.

He expressed these sentiments during a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar.

The deputy prime minister congratulated the NSA on his assumption of office and reiterated that Pakistan looked forward to building on its longstanding and broad-based relationship with the United States under President Trump and his Administration, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office on Wednesday.
