WASHINGTON, USA: US President Joe Biden indicated on Tuesday that his administration is considering lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons in its conflict with Russia.
When asked about this possibility, Biden stated that they were “working that out now.” The US has been cautious about providing or approving weapons capable of striking deep within Russian territory, fearing it could escalate the conflict further.
While Ukraine’s allies have provided weapons, they have placed limits on their use inside Russia to avoid provoking retaliation that could potentially involve NATO or trigger a nuclear conflict. Sources recently revealed to Reuters that the U.S. is nearing an agreement to supply Ukraine with such weapons, but it may take several months to resolve technical issues before any shipment is made.
