US Condemns Israeli Settler’s Attack on Palestinian

WASHINGTON: The US State Department has denounced the killing of a Palestinian by Jewish settlers in Burqa village, Arab media reported on Monday.

The strongly worded statement said Washington strongly condemns a terror attack by Israeli extremist settlers that killed a 19-year-old Palestinian.

Soon after the incident, Israeli police detained two settlers near Burqa village. It said the detainees were part of the group involved in throwing rocks, torching cars. The police said that when the villagers confronted the group, it killed a 19-year-old and injured several others.

Recently, the Jewish settlers have increased attacks in West Bank villages, causing extensive property damage.

In another development, Israeli forces on Sunday killed three Palestinians in the West Bank.

About two dozen Democrats of the US Parliaments will visit Israel and the occupied West Bank this week to discuss prospects for a two-state solution and Israel’s judicial reforms, among other issues.

The United States has recently expressed its displeasure over surging violence by Israel’s hard-right government.

Netanyahu and his hard-right coalition have undertaken controversial judicial reforms to curtail the Supreme Court’s powers, triggering nationwide protests and international condemnation. Ends
