US Committed to Strengthening Economic Ties with Pakistan: Ambassador

LAHORE: US Ambassador Donald Blome has said that Washington wanted to strengthen its trade and economic ties and enhance cooperation with Pakistan. 

During his visit to PepsiCo’s FritoLay Snack plant and NetSol Technologies Ltd, Ambassador Blome, along with Consul General Hawkins, reiterated the United States’ commitment to fostering trade, investment, and development in Punjab. He underscored the positive impact of US companies in the region, highlighting their role in job creation and community development through corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on education, healthcare, disaster relief, women’s empowerment, and skills development.

Ambassador Blome expressed optimism about Pakistan’s economic potential, stating the United States is working with Pakistan to make progress on economic reforms that will make it more competitive and better prepared to meet future challenges. He said Washington is helping Pakistan in building more reliable energy systems, strengthen and cooperate to improve its infrastructure and increase capacity for regional trade.

US Ambassador meets Chief Minister Punjab 

Earlier on Tuesday, Ambassador Blome and Consul General Hawkins met with Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and discussed US-Pakistan economic ties, safeguarding the rights of religious minorities, and upholding democracy and the rule of law.

He also met with Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar during his three-day visit to Lahore.
