KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The Beechcraft Model 390 plane exploded on impact in a fireball when it crashed on a road in Selangor state west of Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
All eight people on board — six passengers and two flight crew — were killed, as were two motorists on the four-lane road, police said.
Investigators from the US National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration and the plane’s manufacturer were seen sifting through the wreckage on Monday.
Police official Mohamad Iqbal Ibrahim said the team has been here since morning.
The plane’s voice recorder has been recovered and is with Malaysian air accident investigators for analysis.
CVR recordings provide details of what actually happened in the cockpit, in addition to flight crew conversations and other audio.
Malaysian police chief Razarudin Hussein said on Friday that the plane did not have a flight data recorder.
The plane took off from the northern resort of Langkawi with destination Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Selangor.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke had previously said the plane had been cleared to land but had “veered to the right of the flight’s runway” before it crashed.
A similar crash occurred in September 1977, near the site, when a Japan Airlines flight bound for Singapore killed 34 of the 79 passengers and crew on board.
