WASHINGTON: A US military personnel set himself on fire, in an apparent act of protest against the ongoing war in the Gaza, outside the Israeli Embassy her on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. Local media reported that the man has been shifted to a hospital following the fire was put out by US officials. A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said that the person remains in critical condition,
The US Air Force also confirmed that the incident and said that the personnel was an active-duty airman. The man also identified himself as Aaron Bushnell. He then drenched himself in a clear liquid and set himself on fire, chanting slogans “Free Palestine,” the local media reported.

Media reported that Secret Service and local police are investigating the incident. Reuters reported that Israel’s embassy has been the target of continued protest against the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. The war in Gaza has led to pro-Palestinian protests in the US.
Palestinian health officials said that Israeli forces have killed more than 30,000 people in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, in December, a person set themselves on fire in front of the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta. A Palestinian flag that was part of the protest demonstration was recovered at the site, police and fire officials told reporters at a press conference.
