BANGKOK: The leaders of United States (US), Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada and New Zealand on Friday held urgent talks after North Korea tested of an intercontinental ballistic missile and vowed to press Pyongyang.
US Vice President holds meeting with leaders of Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada
US Vice President Kamala Haris held meeting with the leaders of Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada and New Zealand on the sidelines of an Asia Pacific summit in Bangkok hours following Pyongyang launched the intercontinental ballistic missile.
At the start of the meeting, Kamala Haris said that they strongly condemn it and again ask North Korea to stop further destabilizing and unlawful actions. She said that on behalf of the US, she reaffirmed their ironclad commitment to their alliances.

US and its allies on North Korea: White House Issues Statement
According to White House the six leaders warned of a ” resolute response” if Pyongyang conducts the test of nukes. The statement of White House said that the leaders agreed that the path to talk remains open with the North Korea and they asked the Pyongyang to stop needless provocation and to come back to serious and sustained diplomacy. The statement also urged all members of United Nations (UN) to completely implement UNSC resolutions, which imposed sanctions on Pyongyang.
US, Japan and Prime Minister of Australia Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese also said that the leaders also desired an emergency session of the UNSC over the matter. Albanese told media that this is about the world coming together to condemn the acts of North Korea and to stand up for security and peace in the region.
During the meeting, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida admitted concerns that Pyongyang is ignoring the pressure and said that North Korea is likely to launch more missiles. Prime Minister of South Korea Han Duck-soo said that the missile launch must not be tolerated. Han Du ck-soo further said that the world must respond in a resolute manner. APP
