US Ambassador Meets Power Division Delegation to Discuss Energy Collaboration with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador Donald Blome held a meeting with a delegation from Pakistan’s Power Division, led by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari in Islamabad on Friday.

During the meeting, Pakistani delegation reiterated the country’s commitment to clean energy.

Pakistan has requested United States’ assistance in unlocking the Green Climate Fund, aiming to equip itself for the looming environmental challenges.

In the meeting, the ambassador expressed interest of US-based companies and DFC in investing in renewable energy projects, aligning with Pakistan’s goal to double the share of renewables in its energy mix over the next eight to ten years under Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Moreover, the Federal minister for Power underlined the key parameters of Pakistan’s upcoming “Fan Replacement Program,” which is set to be initiated in the near future for energy conservation.

USAID support for Pakistan

He invited USAID support for the implementation of conservation initiatives of Pakistan.

In addition, the US envoy highlighted the importance of upcoming Economic Dialogue in USA and requested a strong presence from Pakistan side.
